From Manual Shims to Push-Button Precision at York Building Products

Location Thomasville, Pennsylvania
Industry Aggregates: Crushed Stone

The Challenge

After decades of operating with established cone brands, York Building Products sought a more efficient, easier-to-maintain solution for its Lincoln Quarry in Thomasville, Pennsylvania. The company’s previous cones required manual adjustments using shims, slowing down production and frustrating maintenance teams.

While the operation produced quality stone, York’s team knew their setup had reached its limits. They wanted to increase capacity, simplify adjustments, and improve uptime without sacrificing product shape or gradation, all while ensuring strong service support.

The Solution

York partnered with Kemper to install two Patriot® Cone Crushers in the secondary position of their circuit. The Patriot’s bushing-style design, integrated Vantage® Automation system, and ease of closed-side setting control made it an ideal upgrade for Lincoln Quarry’s production goals.

The Vantage Automation system tracks key performance data — pressures, temperatures, and trends — to protect against failure and simplify troubleshooting. Operators can now fine-tune settings with the push of a button, replacing hours of manual adjustment work.

We thought we had the right product before, but once we saw the Superior crushers and knew the service we’d get through Kemper, it was almost a no-brainer.

The Results

The new Patriot Cones have exceeded production expectations, processing up to 400 tons per hour while delivering consistent, cubical asphalt-grade stone exactly to spec. York anticipates producing about 450,000 tons this year from the Lincoln Quarry, with added flexibility to run one or both cones as demand requires.

Maintenance and downtime have both improved dramatically. Operators no longer deal with blown shims or manual resets — the Patriot’s hydraulic control and automation have reduced setup time and increased throughput.

Annual inspections confirmed minimal wear and optimal performance, and both York and Kemper report the machines continue to outperform comparable cones in similar applications.
