Morris, Minn. – Superior Industries, Inc., a US-based manufacturer and global supplier of bulk material processing and handling systems, announces the next-generation Cemco® Vertical Shaft Impactor (VSI), a redesigned platform intended for producers who need precision shaping and spec-ready product.
The new and improved VSI made its debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2026.

A VSI is typically selected when particle shape matters as much as material reduction. Applications such as manufactured sand, fine chips, and tight specification products require consistent gradation control and properly shaped particles to ensure the material is truly saleable. In these circuits, rotor design, chamber geometry, and wear surface management play a direct role in energy efficiency, product consistency, and maintenance intervals.
The next-generation Cemco VSI combines the proven performance of the legacy Cemco platform with key design elements inspired by Superior’s Valor® VSI.
A redesigned rotor and updated chamber geometry are engineered to improve crushing efficiency in rock-on-rock applications. In addition, a rotating anvil ring increases the usable wear surface, helping extend the life of this wear component and reduce the frequency of changeouts. The platform offers multiple rotor and chamber configurations, allowing producers to align the crusher setup with specific material characteristics and target specifications.
Operational safeguards and configuration flexibility are built into the VSI to reduce avoidable downtime and simplify setup changes. Producers can configure the crusher for different feed types or final specifications using various rotor and chamber combinations. Multi-port rotor options allow operators to align performance more precisely with feed size and product requirements. A vibration protection system is designed to automatically shut the machine down in the event of imbalance, helping protect the crusher and maintain uptime.
The next-generation Cemco VSI is optimized for rock-on-rock performance and precision shaping applications. Its wear-life strategy centers on rotating anvils within the anvil ring, and the platform supports multiple rotor and chamber configurations while maintaining shared components across models.
