Challenge
Eliminating steel idler rolls, Ennis, Texas-based Seven Points Sand and Gravel greatly increased the efficiencies at their new 400-tph wash plant in Ennis. Before Moxie rolls, the wet sand running across their belts was eating away steel idlers. Eventually, bearings failed and the sharp edges of the worn steel damaged their expensive belting.

Solution
Proper seal design is a major factor in idler wear life, especially in sand and gravel, as the seal is typically the first fail point. Equipped with Superior’s patented SpinGuard® seal system, the bearings of a Moxie roll are protected by a triple labyrinth system, increasing the distance contaminants must travel and blocking them from the inside of the idler can. Seven Points is able to maintain a round-the-clock schedule, eliminating weekly roll change-outs and preserving belt life.
