MSHA Increases Guarding Violations 27% Since 2007

MSHA’s inspectors have increased the number of guarding violations they’ve handed out in each of the last four years. Using stone producing surface mines as an example, we estimate inspectors will hand out 27% more guarding violations this year than they did in 2007.

2007: 1,813

2008: 1,913

2009: 2,368

2010: 2,500*

As the most frequently cited standard in surface mines, it’s clear that inspectors have an eye out for guarding. The good news is, we can help! Superior’s guarding solutions will make your operation a safer place for you to work and MSHA to visit.
